No one is a bigger fan of Run DMC than my boy, South.  I loved working on this piece.  I first hit the canvas repeatedly, much to the detriment of my studio space, with a stone texture spray paint to give the canvas a concrete feel.  Then designed a special gold "Dookie Rope" to give it that personalized feel.  Classic look, classic piece.

Not a brief you receive every day.  The client asked for a pirate... squirrel.  It was fun to make and love the way it turned out.  I hope the recipient parents and kid love it too.

The Golden Gate Bridge's red-headed stepbrother, the Bay Bridge only gets a fraction of the Bay Area's "span love". However, among other things the Bay Bridge makes for amazing images with the SF skyline in the background and the Western sunset.  The client wanted something special for her someone special.  The brief included the color purple and possibly including his favorite bridge.  The entire piece was created using spray paint and no acrylics.

One of the more amazing things I've had the opportunity to do in life was to trek around the Everest region. It took a week or two for my Peace Corps peeps and I to get to our final destination, but it was definitely worth it. This shot took longer than usual to set up, trying to find a purchase on stony path while breathless and make sure my camera didn't meet death over a cliff. By the time I got the camera ready... the clouds that spend 99.97% of the time on the summit had cleared. I have so much respect for all the mountains in the Himal range and even more for the people there trying to live daily life. That's why I call it, Mr. Everest.

These are prayer wheels around the Swayambhunath Temple commonly called the Monkey Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal. Originally built around 640 C.E., the temple has because an iconic symbol of buddhism around the world. If you can make it passed the hundreds of monkeys that call this temple on a hill home, it's an amazing place. Buddhist practitioners spend their morning or evening or entire day circumambulating around the temple and spinning each wheel that is inscribed with Om Mani Padme Hum as a form of meditative prayer. The wheels also contain more prayers written on pieces of paper multiplying their efforts. I spent hours here trying to balance out my karma. Results have varied.  The piece is done with metallic paint the gives it a unique look when viewed at different angles.

My brother in law just returned from an amazing trip to South Africa.  I've "borrowed" several of his safari photos for what I hope will become a series.  I saw this parent and kid pair and I immediately thought about walking to the school bus every morning.

I've always loved this shot I took during my brief time in London. I was surprised to discover that the main cables (or supports) were blue. I wanted to give it an obvious location-specific background and utilize less precise edge work because when I think of the Union Jack as a stencil, I immediately imagine the Sex Pistols era and DIY British punk.

As a kid of the 70's/80's, Star Wars is a major chapter of my childhood.  Boba Fett is the most iconic "minor" character in the entire Empire and a favorite of many including the client.  They appropriately geeked out when the saw the final piece.  I even give you a little behind the kimono peak at some of the various stages of laying down this stencil.

The original request was to incorporate this universal gun range target in the Transplant Art style. My first memory of targets is summer camp, more importantly summer camp archery. Remember back then? 30 kids, bows and arrows, hay bales and a few nervous camp counselors. I wanted to invoke this memory in a more adult setting.

This is a very special place to many people. For some being here means you're on holiday with friends and family. For some it means you're home. This is where it firmly sank in that I had finally married the girl of my dreams as I took my wedding photos.  Drakes Island, Maine is special. I hope I was able to do it justice.

One of the infinite memories that I took away from a trip of a lifetime to Russia is the awe and satisfaction of finally walking into Red Square with my family.  St. Basil's Cathedral is one of the most iconic structures in the world. My mother asked for a painting of this incredible church and I knew exactly which photo (of thousands) I wanted to use. And while purple happens to be one of her favorite colors, that day's sky complied with this palette.

This is the first piece in a long time that I did just for me.  Turns out a few people wanted it.  The photo leveraged is from an "Escape the Snow" trip to the Dominican Republic.  We discovered a seafood paradise that was so perfect that  they didn't bother with another fancy name.  The boat in the piece was the restaurant's and supplied an epic lunch feast pulled straight from cooler of that day's catch.

The client wanted something different for a statement piece for her newly rennovated kitchen.  We discussed a few ideas including a repeating beetle and grenade pattern.  In the end, I leveraged an interesting rendition of a scarab beetle in her color palette.

The original client's brief was simple... "I want an orange t-rex."  My nephew heard that I was painting something for his parents and wanted one too.  I love the simplicity of the image and the back story it invokes.  So much so that I've done a few versions of this in various color palettes and sizes.

I wanted to switch to a 4 color palette to match an expecting couple's baby quilt. In addition to the extra color, I made the background mimic a kid's coloring book or finger painting with thick broad strokes to give it some dimension and a bit of interesting texture.

When meeting with the client, I was discussing my desire to start painting my acrylic and stencil media from the thousands of photos I've taken in my travels.  After the fourth album I paused.  "I can do this for hours, but I just realized that while I think these photos are awesome, they don't hold the same meaning for you as they do for me."  "Is there an iconic pic from a special memory that you think might work?"  She immediately pulled out her honeymoon album and here was this really cool photo of an old fort in Italy.  I loved the layers from the hills and fog in the background to the fort, the beach/coast/island in the foreground.

The client had seen my SF v BOS and loved the concept.  He wanted to commission a piece for his dad who grew up on a farm in Pennsylvania, but spent most of his life in Boston.  I really liked the sunrise behind silo imagery.

This piece is an emotional one for me.  The client, my brother-in-law, had just lost his wife and I my sister-in-law.  In the midst of her treatment, he spotted a random t-shirt in a store window.  His first thought was that was him and the long uncertain road ahead.  I was able to replicate that image for and him and for us.  He also asked for two smaller versions of this piece for his kids.

The client's brief was epic.  He wanted his birthplace - Boston, his recent home - San Francisco, his hobby - DJ-ing/producing, his family and maybe even the company he founded.  We decided on splitting that up into (at least) 2 paintings.  This piece has a heavily textured background to imitate a concrete surface.  I was also able to integrate a multilayered interpretation of his wife's tattoo into the DJ headphones.

This piece is part of a larger client brief.  The client wanted, among a few things, his birthplace (Boston) and his recent home (San Francisco).  The Boston skyline is a collection of iconic building throughout the city and the reflecting SF image is a shore to hill cross-section.

So I had just moved from SF to Boston and my buddy couldn't let his show buddy go that easily.  One of favorite bands had recently reunited and it was a show we NEEDED to see.  So to thank him for the ticket (concert and plane) I painted him this piece with the SF skyline and brass knuckles to complete the punk rock show theme.

I wanted to see what it would take to create camouflage with multiple colors and layers.  I also like the imagery of the "United Way" hands and the "friendly" bomb.

For this piece I wanted to see if I could create a plaid.  And what goes better with a nice pink and navy plaid than some iconic whales.

This is the first piece I ever did.  The client briefed me on a huge piece he wanted to give to his wife as a Christmas gift.  He wanted a piece with 4 dates - the day he met his wife, the day they got married and the birthday's of their two kids.  The concept came to me in the middle of the night.  It leverages the evolution of measuring time (from tic marks, to Roman numerals, to an analog pocket watch to a digital read out).  incorporating those dates in clockwise order.
